2000 has seen SGC introducing bender element testing to its range of tests. Bender elements are small piezo-electric bimorphs which can be used to produce shear-waves within a triaxial specimen. This non-destructive testing can be carried out at any point during stress path tests to measure soil stiffness (Gmax) and compliments our well documented local axial strain measurement systems used to measure small strains.
